Who
We Are
Urban VOICE is an all-volunteer organization made up of progressive,
common people contributing their creativity and practical experience
to formulate media products that will inform and inspire individuals
and communities towards understanding and action for the common
good.
Urban VOICE was founded in 1997 as a technology training center
for low income urban residents of Oakland, CA. During a six-year
span, the center trained over 2000 students in computer hardware
and software technology. In 2004, because of escalating federal
deficits, funding was severely cut by President Bush. As a result,
Urban VOICE shut its doors as an educational institute and has reemerged
as a video production company emphasized on educational documentaries
for both public education and the general public.
